There are always so many questions with regard to scheduling your session. The most frequently asked are below. If we haven't answered your question here, please be sure to contact us! What should my children wear? We highly suggest avoiding clothing with any of the following:
For babies (1 year and younger) keep it simple. Always be sure to pack a white onesie. If the baby should fall asleep at the end of the session we may be able to capture a peaceful "sleeping baby" shot! For children 1 year and older the same principal of simplicity applies. However, stay with solid colors. If you have more than one child in the portrait keep the bottoms the same and add color to the tops. Keep the color in the same "color family" (ie: pastels, neutrals, jewel tones, etc.). I have a family of 4, what should we all wear? We can't say enough about simplicity. Keep the bottoms the same (denim, kahkis). Add color to the top. Keep the color in the same "color family" (ie: pastels, neutrals, jewel tones, etc.) With a family of 4 or 5, staying with one or two colors works best. Many times we have families come in with simple denim bottoms and black or white tops! It's timeless and classic. Ask us to show you some examples during your free initial consultation. Larger family groups would do best not to mix more than 3 colors. Again, keep the bottoms the same. Add color to compliment the images. How many clothing changes can I do? With children we will allow up to 4 clothing changes. If you are not sure exactly what to bring for clothing, you may bring more than 4 changes and Genevieve will assist you and prioritize what she believes will work best for the session. Another option is to schedule a free consultation for us to review your clothing questions. Can I have my pet included in the portrait? Yes. Pets are part of the family too! Please
be sure to mention that you would like your pet included when you
schedule your session. We will go over our guidelines with you. There
is no additional fee to include your pet in your portraits.
How long is my session? Our portrait sessions are scheduled at 5 minutes past the hour. Generally, we anticipate one hour for portrait sessions. If I have more than one child, can I have the children's portrait taken together and also alone? Yes. Portraits of individual children can be taken in addition to the group of children together. The majority of your session will be of the children together. These additional individual portraits are what we call "Approvals". There is no additional fee for these portraits to be taken. There is also no obligation to purchase them. This same policy applies for families and groups. I would truly love an outdoor photograph, but what if it rains? Mother Nature is not on our payroll. If we could get her we would! From Spring until late Fall we provide beautiful garden settings for your outdoor portraits. For sessions scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday we will allow for your session to be rescheduled due to rain or you can keep your appointment and have your portraits taken indoors. Keep in mind that overcast skies still make for great portraits! Can portraits be retouched for blemishes, etc.? Yes, your portraits can be retouched. Common retouch is completed for blemishes, stray hairs and eyeglass glare. Your package pricing does not include the cost of retouch. Since every retouch is unique we will provide you with an estimate of what we believe the lab will charge. Retouch will not be completed without your request to do so. How long before I receive my final prints? Genevieve does not shoot digital. Your portraits are captured using traditional film based methods which deliver the absolute highest quality. Digital is easier and certainly quicker but we are purists! Quality takes a bit of time... The turnaround time to schedule your viewing the proofs may take 2 weeks. The final prints are processed and are typically ready 2 weeks after approval of proofs. May I take home my proofs to share with my family? All viewing is completed at our studio. Please allow 1/2 hour for this appointment. Children are more than welcome, however you may find it easier to pick the portraits you would like enlarged if your focus is 100% on your order. In addition to your package order, a portfolio of 8 proofs is available for purchase. If your entire order is paid at the time of your viewing you may take the portfolio home to share with your family. How do I get to your studio? We have purposely not included directions to our studio. Genevieve's work is conducted on her home property. For the safety and privacy of Genevieve's family, it is imperative that all business be conducted by appointment only. Directions will be provided for your appointment. How do I know I will have Genevieve take my photographs? That's simple, because she is the only one behind the camera! Genevieve does all of the photography. Her staff will assist you with any additional questions, setting up appointments and viewing and picking up your work. |
